On Friday, the kids and I played kickball outside in sweatshirts. The previous weekend was Fall. Fall lasts for a couple of days here in the Alaskan Interior. The leaves are on the trees one day, and then two days later you have bare, wintery looking trees. Sunday we woke up to the first snow of the season.
Today the thermometer said 10 degrees. (Note the markings on this thermometer--it's not an over-ambitious little thermometer. It's entirely likely to reach -60 at some point during the winter.) I'm not sure if that was because it was in the shade and covered with snow or not. I uncovered it and a couple of hours later it was 20 degrees and stayed 20 degrees all day. I took these pictures at 8:00 p.m.

OK I have decided that you will not see me till at least July!!! You can have the cold temps this early!
